1st Century Optometry Lesson

Do you see what I see?

Jesus of Nazareth:

"Why do you notice the sliver in your friend's eye, but overlook the timber in your own?  How can you say to your friend, "Let me get the sliver out of your eye," when there is that timber in your own?  You phony, first take the timber out of your own eye and then you'll see well enough to remove the sliver from your own."  (Matthew 7:3-5, SV)

In modern parlance:  takes one to know one.
In an interview Wednesday shortly after his 21-hour talkathon to defund Obamacare had come to an end, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) lamented to shock jock Rush Limbaugh that too many lawmakers think their constituents are naive.

"They think their voters are gullible rubes," Cruz said in the radio interview.

  1. While I would never deny that too many of our elites look down on The People, Cruz obviously does too or he would tell them the truth instead of lying to them. You have to have a deeper contempt of The People to try to take advantage of them by lying to them. We, The People, require accurate information to govern our selves. When a willing tool of the oligarchy tries to sucker us into voting and working against our own good, pretending to be a populist in the process, it conceals a deeper contempt and hatred. Considering what he said during his long star turn, it is ironic that one of the best examples of that were the appeals to Das Volk made by Hitler. It might be tempting to cite Huey Long in an American context, but I can't imagine Cruz ever providing any benefits to the poor. For all of his faults, Long did some of that. I can't imagine Cruz saying "Share our wealth". Or, rather, that he'd ever actually do anything like that.
